Sports Massage in Edinburgh
Whether you're training for an event, recovering from a tough week of exercise, or feeling the effects of long days at a desk, sports massage can help reduce muscle tension, improve movement, and support recovery.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage is a hands-on treatment that focuses on muscles and soft tissues. It can help reduce tightness, improve flexibility, ease discomfort, and support recovery from exercise or everyday activities.
Despite the name, sports massage is not only for athletes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sports massage can sometimes feel intense, especially when working on tight or sensitive areas. However, the level of pressure is always adjusted to your comfort and preferences. Some techniques may create short term discomfort, but it should never feel unbearable.
We maintain open communication throughout the treatment so you can let us know how you are feeling at any time. The pressure can be increased or reduced depending on your response, ensuring the session is effective while still staying within a comfortable and manageable level for you.
-
Not at all. Despite the name, sports massage isn’t just for runners, gym-goers or professional athletes. It’s a hands-on treatment that helps relieve muscle tension, reduce stiffness and improve movement for anyone.
Whether you spend long hours at a desk, have a physically demanding job, enjoy regular exercise, or simply wake up with tight shoulders or an aching back, sports massage can help you move and feel better.
Deep tissue massage uses targeted pressure to release tight muscles and connective tissue. Your therapist will tailor the pressure to your comfort level and goals, so treatment is not about “no pain, no gain.” It is about effective, personalised care.

Sports massage can be helpful for many muscle and soft tissue problems. If your symptoms need further assessment or rehabilitation, we can advise whether physiotherapy or another treatment would be more appropriate.
-
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to remove or adjust some clothing, but you will always be given privacy to do so and towels will be used to ensure you remain covered throughout your treatment.
-
This depends on your goals. Some clients book monthly for maintenance, while others come before or after major sporting events or during periods of increased training.
-
It's common to feel some tenderness or mild muscle soreness for 24 to 48 hours after treatment, particularly if deeper techniques have been used. This is a normal response and should settle on its own.
Many people also notice they feel less stiff, move more freely, or experience reduced muscle tension following their appointment.
We recommend drinking plenty of water, staying gently active, and avoiding intense exercise for the rest of the day if possible. Your clinician will also provide any specific advice based on your treatment and goals.
